Arctic Pearl Cargo

Global Luxury. African Soul.

One deliberate Bogolan mudcloth signature, warm construction and fixed child-safe hardware — never an all-over print.

Pearl-ivory quilted wide-leg cargo with Bogolan mudcloth belt-loop tabs, a mudcloth pocket-flap pull and a sherpa-lined turn-up hem. Warm-lined, movement-tested and child-safe: no loose cords at the neck, fixed hardware only. Wash cool, dry flat, keep the mudcloth trim out of bleach.

Fashion is temporary. Identity is forever.

Winter care

Machine wash cool (30°C) on a gentle cycle with a technical-fabric detergent. No fabric softener — it clogs the water-resistant finish. Tumble dry low or line dry; a short warm tumble re-activates the water repellency. Close every zip before washing so the gold hardware cannot mark the shell. Bogolan mudcloth is hand-dyed: keep it away from bleach and oxygen brighteners, wash cool, and dry out of direct sun so the motif stays deep.

How it works

  1. 01

    Measure

Measure the child, not a garment: waist at the narrowest point, inseam from crotch to ankle bone.

  2. 02

    Choose the size

Between two sizes, take the larger — every waist is elasticated or belted and the hems allow one turn-up.

  3. 03

    Care for the mudcloth

Bogolan mudcloth is hand-dyed: keep it away from bleach and oxygen brighteners, wash cool, and dry out of direct sun so the motif stays deep.

Story behind the design

The Bogolan story

Sirablen mudcloth in olive & cream, worked into the waistband tape, pocket edge, side seam stripe.

olive & cream

  • waistband tape
  • pocket edge
  • side seam stripe

The cloth

Bogolanfini begins as hand-woven cotton strip cloth, joined selvedge to selvedge before it ever meets the dye. It is dyed with a n'tjankara leaf mordant followed by a slow black-mud pass — the pattern is not printed on, it is drawn in mud and then the ground around it is lifted away.

The motif — Sirablen

The tape carries a broken line stepping across the ground cloth. In the Bamana reading, Sirablen is the road home — steadiness on a long journey. Z-Vibe keeps the motif at heritage scale rather than shrinking it into a logo pattern, so the hand of the maker stays legible on the finished piece.

Why it sits where it sits

Mudcloth is placed on construction points, never scattered as decoration: waistband tape, pocket edge, side seam stripe. These are the lines the eye already follows on this silhouette, so the cloth reads as structure — an edge, a facing, a seam — and holds its meaning at three metres and at arm's length alike.

The hand-work

Each length is block-matched panel to panel — the atelier discards any length where the repeat cannot be aligned. Tape width and motif repeat are cut to the size band, so a petite run and an extended run carry the same proportion rather than the same measurement.

Global Heritage Fusion™

African heritage, global luxury, future design: the mudcloth is set against European finishing and the aged-gold Z-Closure™ mark. Nothing is erased on either side — the meeting is the design. Different Roots. One Human Story.

Care · Spot-clean the mudcloth with cool water and a soft cloth. Dry-clean the body of the piece; the tape is colour-set but not bleach-safe.

Refinement provenance

Approved design board · studio capture pending

Each step below reflects work that actually exists for this piece. Refinement is a design process — it does not imply the piece is production-released.

  1. Owner-approved design board intakeIn progress

Registered from the collection register entry; the full design board is still being filed.

  2. Z-Sole Architecture™ assignmentComplete

Sole identity resolved for this style — Z-Grip™ Cargo Cut (ZG-4589) on the Z-Grip™ lugged rubber chassis, hexagonal mudcloth-lattice lugs mirroring the Bogolan grid, tapered aerodynamic last with a raked heel breast, stack 28 mm heel / 18 mm forefoot, 10 mm drop, laced in round braided Bogolan cord over a waxed core, aged-gold aglets, diamond Z at the lateral wall, Z-VIBE at the medial wall. Tread, last and stack height were made unique to the shoe rather than shared across the register.

  3. Bogolan signature verificationComplete

Mudcloth was confirmed as a construction detail (laces, panel, tongue or heel band) and not surface print, and the aged-gold Z-Closure™ mark was placed.

  4. Z-Studio 4K refinement passNot yet run

No refinement output released yet — this page reads the approved board unretouched.

  5. Seven-view studio captureNot yet run

No angle has been shot yet; all 7 views read the design board.
