Ivory Placket Kaftan Set

Ivory linen × charcoal Bogolan mudcloth placket

Embroidery notes

  • Twin gold cords couched down both edges of the mudcloth placket.
  • Diamond Z monogram raised over felt at the top-left chest.
  • Cuff bands repeat the placket motif at a quarter scale.

Fabric care

  • Cold hand wash; wash alone for the first three washes.
  • Dry flat in shade, never tumble dry.
  • Press inside out, steering around the placket cord.

Verify authenticity

Genuine Malian Bogolan mudcloth, fermented-mud dyed by hand, cut into heavyweight flax linen and framed with hand-couched metallic embroidery. Because no two mud batches and no two embroidery passes are identical, this garment is a numbered, one-of-a-kind piece and will differ slightly from every photograph and every other set in its run.

The care guide, step by step — four moments in the life of this set. Use the arrow keys to move between steps.

Step 1 of 4Wash

Cold water, alone, gentle motion.

  • Cold hand wash, or a 30°C gentle cycle inside a garment bag.
  • Wash the piece on its own for the first three washes — Bogolan mudcloth mud dye still settles.
  • pH-neutral liquid detergent only. Never bleach, never optical brighteners.

  • The tunic is cut with 12 cm of ease at the bust — it should skim, never pull across the placket.
  • Trousers sit at the natural waist with a wide leg; between two sizes, take the smaller for the waist and have the hem shortened.
  • Inseam is finished at 76–82 cm by size. Free hemming to your exact length is included with every set.
  • Heavyweight linen relaxes roughly half a size after the third wash; the Bogolan mudcloth bands do not shrink.
  • Petite under 160 cm: ask for the short-rise trouser block at checkout. Tall over 180 cm: the long block adds 6 cm.
