The cloth
Bogolanfini begins as hand-woven cotton strip cloth, joined selvedge to selvedge before it ever meets the dye. It is dyed with a wolo bark tannin with iron-rich mud drawn from the Niger banks — the pattern is not printed on, it is drawn in mud and then the ground around it is lifted away. On this piece the mudcloth meets blackened house leather upper with an exposed z-closure™ zip run, woven bogolan mudcloth trim tile, bogolan mudcloth lacing, aged-gold zip pull, blackened rubber outsole. z-grip™ trail cut (zg-9956) on the z-grip™ lugged rubber chassis, split-diamond z lugs stepped in three depths, low-slung court last with a flattened tread plane, stack 28 mm heel / 18 mm forefoot, 10 mm drop, laced in narrow bogolan ribbon lace with a hand-knotted stopper, diamond z at the lateral wall, z-vibe at the medial wall.
