The cloth
Bogolanfini begins as hand-woven cotton strip cloth, joined selvedge to selvedge before it ever meets the dye. It is dyed with a n'gallama leaf bath, then river-mud fermentation over three passes — the pattern is not printed on, it is drawn in mud and then the ground around it is lifted away. On this piece the mudcloth meets blackened house leather upper with an exposed z-closure™ zip run, woven bogolan mudcloth trim tile, bogolan mudcloth lacing, aged-gold zip pull, blackened rubber outsole. z-grip™ court cut (zg-4751) on the z-grip™ lugged rubber chassis, banded terrace steps rising from forefoot to heel, rounded volume last with a deep instep for thick socks, stack 40 mm heel / 26 mm forefoot, 14 mm drop, laced in narrow bogolan ribbon lace with a hand-knotted stopper, diamond z at the lateral wall, z-vibe at the medial wall.
