The cloth
Bogolanfini begins as hand-woven cotton strip cloth, joined selvedge to selvedge before it ever meets the dye. It is dyed with a n'gallama leaf bath, then river-mud fermentation over three passes — the pattern is not printed on, it is drawn in mud and then the ground around it is lifted away. On this piece the mudcloth meets blackened house leather upper with an exposed z-closure™ zip run, woven bogolan mudcloth trim tile, bogolan mudcloth lacing, aged-gold zip pull, blackened rubber outsole. z-grip™ runner cut (zg-1730) on the z-grip™ lugged rubber chassis, woven-cord relief echoing a bogolan warp, rounded volume last with a deep instep for thick socks, stack 30 mm heel / 20 mm forefoot, 10 mm drop, laced in round braided bogolan cord over a waxed core, aged-gold aglets, diamond z at the lateral wall, z-vibe at the medial wall.
