The cloth
Bogolanfini begins as hand-woven cotton strip cloth, joined selvedge to selvedge before it ever meets the dye. It is dyed with a n'tjankara leaf mordant followed by a slow black-mud pass — the pattern is not printed on, it is drawn in mud and then the ground around it is lifted away. On this piece the mudcloth meets breathable knit and soft nappa, memory-foam footbed, ergonomic rocker eva sole, woven bogolan mudcloth detail, aged-gold z tab. z-air™ steady cut (za-8215) on the z-air™ cushioned eva chassis, concentric compass rings radiating from a gold-hubbed pivot, narrow blade last drawn long through the waist, stack 34 mm heel / 22 mm forefoot, 12 mm drop, laced in heavy bogolan rope lace, brass-crimped tips, diamond z at the lateral wall, z-vibe at the medial wall.
