The cloth
Bogolanfini begins as hand-woven cotton strip cloth, joined selvedge to selvedge before it ever meets the dye. It is dyed with a n'tjankara leaf mordant followed by a slow black-mud pass — the pattern is not printed on, it is drawn in mud and then the ground around it is lifted away. On this piece the mudcloth meets house leather and olive suede upper cut to a geometric block, woven bogolan mudcloth panel, bogolan mudcloth lacing, aged-gold z-closure™ geometry plate, sculpted rubber outsole. z-grip™ loafer cut (zg-2211) on the z-grip™ lugged rubber chassis, radial claw ribs closing into a solid pivot disc, narrow blade last drawn long through the waist, stack 34 mm heel / 22 mm forefoot, 12 mm drop.
