The cloth
Bogolanfini begins as hand-woven cotton strip cloth, joined selvedge to selvedge before it ever meets the dye. It is dyed with a wolo bark tannin with iron-rich mud drawn from the Niger banks — the pattern is not printed on, it is drawn in mud and then the ground around it is lifted away. On this piece the mudcloth meets house leather and olive suede upper cut to a geometric block, woven bogolan mudcloth panel, bogolan mudcloth lacing, aged-gold z-closure™ geometry plate, sculpted rubber outsole. z-grip™ derby cut (zg-1505) on the z-grip™ lugged rubber chassis, hexagonal mudcloth-lattice lugs mirroring the bogolan grid, high-walled bootie last with a wrapped ankle cradle, stack 30 mm heel / 20 mm forefoot, 10 mm drop, laced in narrow bogolan ribbon lace with a hand-knotted stopper, diamond z at the lateral wall, z-vibe at the medial wall.
