The cloth
Bogolanfini begins as hand-woven cotton strip cloth, joined selvedge to selvedge before it ever meets the dye. It is dyed with a n'tjankara leaf mordant followed by a slow black-mud pass — the pattern is not printed on, it is drawn in mud and then the ground around it is lifted away. On this piece the mudcloth meets full-grain calfskin and technical suede, embroidered wing motif, woven bogolan mudcloth panel, sculpted gold crown hardware and z-closure™ pull. z-welt™ ascend cut (zw-6260) on the z-welt™ stacked leather goodyear chassis, split-diamond z lugs stepped in three depths, sculpted almond last with a lifted toe spring, stack 40 mm heel / 26 mm forefoot, 14 mm drop, laced in narrow bogolan ribbon lace with a hand-knotted stopper, diamond z at the lateral wall, z-vibe at the medial wall.
